In preparing your house for sale, ask yourself over and over if your house looks like someone else’s
dream house. Houses in move-in condition tend to be inviting to buyers: houses that are like new
typically sell the fastests and procure the best price.
Things that will enhance the sale of your home:
- First impressions are lasting: Make sure the front of your house is clean and inviting,
keep lawn and hedges trimmed, remove leaves and debris from landscaping.
- Pay attention to detail: Fix loose knobs, torn screens, dripping faucets, strong paint
colors are not a selling point. Pay special attention to odors from pets.
- Bright, clean, charming: Make sure your bathrooms sparkle, clean out messy closets, box
up things neatly in the basement and garage.
- 3’s a crowd: Avoid being present during a showing..the buyer will fell like an intruder and
hurry through.
- Avoid looking cluttered: While your knick-knacks my have given your home the personal touches that
you have enjoyed, they may make it difficult for some buyer s to envision the house as their own.
Put away all personal photos.
- Counters/Cabinets: A very important feature to most house hunters is plenty of counter and
cabinet space. Clean off counters and make sure your cabinets do not look like they are bursting
at the seams.
